Current Projects
Edison Outdoor Foundation continues it's work on improving the operation, growth and improvement of outdoor learning, recreation and stewardship for the students of Edison Elementary, their families and our surrounding communities.
CURRENT PROJECTS:
BEHS Welding Dept continues fabrication of the Edison Community Track Entrance Archway and Donor Gate panels. Estimated completion is April 2019. This project is fully funded.
We are currently looking for Community Grants for suitable for Playground Equipment repair at Edison Elementary. The existing playground equipment was built for K-5 students, installed in 1996 and has several inoperable stations, most notably the slide! The budget to replace the curly slide and several other rusted, broken portions of the playground equipment is $13,000. This project is being co-funded by Edison Booster Club, Edison Elementary and BESD Maintenance Fund, in addition to grants applications by EOF. Personal donations are always welcome.
ONGOING PROJECTS:
We are also working on providing continued financial support for the BESD Outdoor Education Fund, annually sending students in our district to Camp Orkila, Mountain School and Snow School and to the Edison Booster Club for the general PE Equipment fund.
FUTURE PROJECTS:
EOF is looking at funding opportunites for the following:
- new playground equipment suitable for older students grades 6-8
- Benches at perimeter or Edison Community Track
- Fitness Circuit Course
- Replacement of backboards, basketball hoops and nets at all exterior hoops
